The New Math

Kasia November 12th, 2007

Let’s see. Somehow [Canuck] + [Clam] = [LUV].

And [Canuck + Clam] + [LUV] also = [happy Clam] + [happy Canuck]

And [happy Clam + happy Canuck] = [proposal]

Which all, in turn, equals [Talk to immigration lawyer, Talk to priest] (those are commutative, so order doesn’t matter)

And ultimately means [Canuck + Clam] = [engaged]

Anyone take enough Diff/EQ to make sense of that?

Make perfect sense to me. But then I was a science major and scored high in my math scores on the SAT (won’t discuss my English score)

Yes, I did take enough. But, I prefer my units in Rankin. Can you do that? Thanks. :) And congrats!!!

I agree with the big seester on this one. What the hell kind of announcement was that?
ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED for anyone who got lost in equation land.
The clam and the canuckster will be getting married - YEAY!!
We all are extremely happy, happy, happy for them both, even those of us who do not like math ;-)
To quote the clam, “Deo Gratias!”

I agree with all the above///that is I like the Clam’s math bent, yet having waited for this announcement for a while now, I am more inclined to go: YEAH, WOO, WOW, YEAH, WHEEHEE, YYYEEEEEAAAAHHHH!
A WEDDING. CAN’T WAIT. CONGRATULATIONS. GOOD GOING. WHAT CUTE KIDS YOU’LL HAVE IF OUR GOOD LORD SO BLESSES YOU. WHAT A HOLY COUPLE YOU WILL BE. SO, SO HAPPY FOR BOTH OF YOU.
And I want to say all of that in all caps….
    So there.

Now, now. I’m sure the Clam is just practicing the virtue of humility. She after all will have to help bring now not only herself, but her husband into the eternal presence of the Lord; and I’m sure she’s quaking, (or will soon) at that awesome responsibility (not that The Canuck doesn’t also have that job), and is working on being EXTRA good. :)

Or, she is acting to her Clamish ways, which drives us people who all want to know explicitly and with great enthusiasm the news NOW NOW NOW, utterly insane.

    Jaibee,

That would be the second theory…I’m surprised she even told anyone!!!!

  9. Kasiaon 12 Nov 2007 at 3:37 pm

TBS, your charity astounds me. (removes tongue from cheek)

Jaibee came up with a perfectly charitable, plausible explanation. Why must you dis me so? Where’s the respect? You don’t even think to call me Godfather… :-p

    Kasia,

Your proposal seems a little better than our first one (yes we were engaged twice). We had just returned from a late night visit to Rams Horn for cabbage soup and such, we were in my car, in his parents driveway, at 2:00 am. Matt looked at me and said “will you marry me?” That statement was immediately followed by his thinking….”was that out loud?” Then I said yes, and he thought “I guess it was.” Alas we were engaged, for only six weeks, but engaged none the less.

I hope yours was a little more romantic.

Heather, sometime I would love to hear how the second proposal went. :-)

It wasn’t romantic in the “get down on one knee and flip out a ring box” sense. It wasn’t romantic in the “going deep-sea diving together and he spells out “WILL YOU MARRY ME” in seaweed on the ocean floor” sense either. It wasn’t even romantic in the “out to dinner together and he has the waiter bring the ring out instead of dessert” sense, which his friend’s now-husband did, and after she said yes she asked if they could hurry up and bring her cheesecake out, because she was hungry. :-p

However, it was very sweet in The Canuck’s own inimitable way…not unlike your first proposal, actually. He and I decided to go to a later Mass so he could get a little more sleep, so we were puttering around the kitchen at about 10 a.m. making coffee for him. He’s giving me a hug, and suddenly he looks at me and says “We should get married.”

“What?” (Thinking, well, yes, that was the idea, but is this how he’s asking?)

“We should get married. Will you marry me?”

    “Are you proposing?”

    “Yes.”

    “Are you joking?”

    “No.”

“Um…yes.” (Mad giggling ensues.) “So are we engaged?”

    “Yup.”

    (more mad giggling)
