SHAZAM!!!

Kasia May 15th, 2008

Thanks to Ma Beck, I think I have found my bridesmaid dress source!

Ma, not to be an ingrate, but where were you four months ago when I was agonizing trying to find a wedding dress?  :-p

‘S ok - seriously, I am so glad to have been told about this site in time for bridesmaids, you have NO idea…

So I’ve requested some swatches via e-mail, and we’ll go from there.

Ma - you rock! I think you’ve just earned yourself “Favorite Blogger of the Day”! Heck, make that the week!!! Next beer I have is for you.

(Of course, I drink beer about, oh, once every six months…so don’t think it’s going to happen SOON… ;-) )

Wow, I checked out that site too and it’s great. You get a really custom dress. That’s great and they have the right sleeves. But is skirt length an issue? Well in January it probably will be. But they have more choices that I’ve ever seen. When I had to shop for prom dresses in high school I went to Davids and they just had long dresses. But short prom dresses weren’t very popular then anyway.

    Woo hoo!

    Beer!!!

(Glad you like the dresses - I will take a photo of mine and post it
when I get home from work tonight.)

Ohhhhh, I got my dress today!

It seems to be VERY nice quality - very pretty material, and it’s not just a dress - it’s got a nice tulle “petticoat” - (I don’t know - what do you call those things that are built in to a formal gown to make them rustle-y and fluffy?) and the sleeves come all the way down to just above the elbow. I was worried they’d be too short. I hate my arms.
I take that back. There are people without arms. I just prefer that my upper arms be covered.

The beading is gorgeous, it’s a lovely design - I can’t wait to get silver high heels and a bodyshaper to minimize hips (Pity about my hips. I could probably birth a baby with minimal effort. At least that way, they’d be a plus.)
    ‘)

I don’t know if I needed the sash, but what the heck.

Anyway, I think it will be very nice.

    Hooray!

Again, wow. I’m having fun playing with that site. I wish something like that was around when I was in high school, I wanted a certain type of prom dress (pink with spaghetti straps) but couldn’t find it. What colors are you thinking of?

Hey, Kasia, is your e-mail anywhere on this site?

  6. Kasiaon 17 May 2008 at 10:40 am

Ma - I think it might be on the About Me section - when I switched to StBlogs from Blogger, my only real complaint was that the template was far less flexible, so I haven’t figured out how else to do it - but it’s clamrampant at stblogs dot com. :-)

Hrmmm, that didn’t seem to work. :(
Can you drop me a line at wardniner at gmail?

    No rush, nothing important. ;)

Oh, Ma, I’m an airhead!!! I don’t know where my brain was! It’s at YAHOO dot com, not stblogs!!! I’m so sorry! But I’ll drop you an e-mail shortly!

Julia - probably wine or claret, with gold accessories, but I’ve ordered swatches to see what I like best…

Ooh, wine is a good color. Dark colored dresses just seem, well elegant I guess. you don’t want everyone to look like they’re wearing some sort of prom dress.

Yeah, and it’s a winter wedding, so deeper colors are more appropriate. And none of my bridesmaids are 18-year-old cupcakes, so a vivid color like (say) a bright coral might not quite work… :-p

  11. Juliaon 17 May 2008 at 5:55 pm

Coral isn’t a very good color anyway. That site is so fun, I keep looking all the different combos. And they have celebrity inspired dresses there, but that’s not really appropriate for a wedding. And it’s great they include shawls if needed because sometimes dresses don’t come with those and you have to find one. I really like the beading choices they give, just about everything looks nice. The reds I think are a good choice out of all the colors, they look the nicest. Really, I say this honestly, they’re a great pick.

Also, keep in mind that some colors are available in some fabrics and not others.
For instance, I have a Georgette fabric dress, in eggplant, which was not available in the other fabrics.

I love their wine and red dresses also - gorgeous.

Now if you want a little brighter color but still not prom dress bright, raspberry is a good color. I’ve been looking at that and it looks like a good balance between bright red and dark red. I think pretty much every combo on there looks nice.
