It does seem pretty ironic that cat food did him in. I still think DJ was the reason all of you began to love Kit. Well aside from her being the best dog ever. She was crazy for a few years but at least she didn't break down doors and always brought you a well loved toy to shove in your lap. Although Kit did once find a lobster tail in our backyard. But at least she calmed down when she got old. She wouldn't even bite me, she'd move her head away if I stuck my hand in her mouth. I think the problem with DJ was that your mom wasn't home enough for him. Kit got lots of love all the time. And nose kisses kept her alive.

Jean, it is most definitely not just your auntie's Brittany. It's the breed. As I'm sure you know, they're astoundingly loving dogs. But they're absolutely INCORRIGIBLE.

Oh, the oven! Yes...I think that merits its own post, don't you?

Don't forget how DJ (somewhat indirectly) necessitated the purchase of a new oven ...

I thought it was just my auntie's Brittany. Her name was Lucy (I believe short for "Lucifer"). Among other naughtiness, she once managed to get onto the cupboard, open a box of 36 frosted cupcakes, and eat the entire box before my aunt returned from the next room.

How about the time we were house-sitting for your Mom and came home to find a broken dish, blood stains all over the carpet (looking much like a crime scene) and not a scratch on the dog? I'm starting to think that somewhere, waaaaaaay back when, DJ had a cat as an ancestor. It seems likely that those 9 lives kept getting passed on and rolling over with each successive generation so that by the time he came around, he had about 306 of them.
