For what it’s worth, my guess is that they’ll let you have your dad walk you. The one possible hard line that they MIGHT take - my sister, after reading the comments, Googled and found something about the Archdiocese of Philadelphia starting to enforce this and a big brouhahaha that followed. They came back and clarified, saying essentially “We’re not saying that the father can’t walk the bride down the aisle. They just can’t be in a separate procession from the groom.” So I suppose the parish might say something similar: you can absolutely walk with your dad, but not with Cletus standing at the altar waiting while you and your dad do the Magnificent Dramatic Entrance. (I am fairly sure that they will NOT allow the “Here Comes the Bride” Wagner chorus, because from what I’ve read, it has not only secular but actually anti-Christian origins.)

What I think the Philly folks are trying to do is keep people’s perspective on what is actually going on in the Sacrament. The Rite of Marriage is not, in the Church’s eyes, simply a hoop you have to jump through in order to have your day of being a princess and having your white dress and big party. It’s a Very Big Deal (as I’m sure you and Cletus know full well), and the Church is simply trying to keep the focus on the Sacrament rather than the trappings.

Anyway. Between the fact that it’ll still be a very new policy when your date rolls around, the strength of this particular tradition, and the parish’s general flexibility, I’m guessing you’ll be fine. But wait until the policy is announced before you go talking to Loretta - I don’t know if you’re supposed to know yet!
