Anybody know calligraphy?

Anyone, Bueller, anyone?
See, the guest book just came – I’ll add a link tomorrow or thereabouts. Right now I’m just taking deep breaths and trying to keep from imploding. Anyway. So the guest book’s first page is a “this is a memento of So-and-so’s on the occasion of X, thus-and-such-a-date.” I could write it in by hand, but it’d look pretty crummy. I also could stencil it in, which would look better but not great. I’m thinking what it needs is an artist’s flourish. Anyone out there in the wide world of Clam readership (all fifteen of you dear souls) either do calligraphy or have exceptionally beautiful penmanship? I’m sure we could work out some sort of appropriate compensation…like maybe me posting pictures of my beloved, beleaguered Canuck in the outlandish get-up his best friend asked him to wear for his wedding yesterday?…
Ah well. We met with our liturgy coordinators tonight. All things considered it went fairly well. They were pleasantly surprised that (a) we had already given a fair amount of thought to most of the things they needed to talk to us about, and (b) our primary focus was on the Mass and the Sacrament, not on the dress or the flowers or the big party after. That said, of course there were plenty of things we hadn’t thought about yet. Like who’s going to seat our mothers. Ach! Don’t ask – it’s complicated.
My poor cats are pestering me nearly non-stop, and my poor Canuck is waiting for me to wrap this up and go take my deep breaths in his company. We’re both trying not to worry about the visa interview Wednesday – it’s a biggie, and he has to go all the way to Montreal for it, so it’s sort of doubly intimidating. So I will go cuddle with my sweetie and tell him not to worry, and have him tell me not to worry; and I will report back in when I know whether he has been approved for his visa (please, Lord, please!), which should be Wednesday afternoon sometime.
See you soon – probably even sooner than Wednesday!

Ironically I can do Olde English and Calligraphy…but I have the most horrible penmanship you’ve ever seen. I have an unforgeable signature, I’ve been told since I was in 3rd Grad that I should be a Doctore (contradicted by my math teacher who suggested I should be a writer…as long as I type….)
lol!
But there’s something about turning each letter into an artform, versus part of a communication, that makes it beautiful and individual.
Personally, I think that people with good penmanship just don’t understand that they’re missing the point. But that’s a whole different issue…
Hope all works out for you! God bless!
Easy! Ask Fr. JJ to write it in for you! He has nice, legible handwriting (as opposed to…others
, and he *is* an artist. Plus, he’s one of your (25?) concelebrants.
Telling you and Canuck not to worry would be about as efficacious as anyone telling me not to panic, so I will just give you gratuitous *hugs*.
Plus, he’s one of your (25?) concelebrants
Ha! Have they added more priests since I last spoke to them?
I don’t think so, DJ – we have four priests and one deacon…
Pigging the clergy….

Oooh, ooh! And PINK BUNNY SUITS FOR THEM, TOO! Bwahahahahaha! (Okay, Dr. Franz bought me a 3 shot mocha on top of my 3 shot mocha and it’s only 10:30…so much for avoiding cardiac arrhythmia)
God doesn’t give you more grace…no matter how many ordinati you got….
Poor guys. Do you realize how many rounds of “1, 2, 3, 4, Let’s have a Thumb War!” they will have to do to determine who is going to be saying the homily. And don’t think that the primary celebrant will *always* get his way. I’m sure the others would want to throw in their 2 cents, too.
I used to be rather good at Caligraphy. Although, I would say that my skills are a bit rusty now-a-days but I’ve been referred to as being rather artsy-fartsy…
Does this qualify me or help you at all?
Of course I would need to see the book and get a better idea of what you’re looking for.
Please give the Canuck a friendly, supportive hug from me and allow me to assure you both that if they will approve his visa. How could our beloved Canuck not be approved of and wanted here in Americanistan?
Regardless, I want to see the pictures of the Canuck in his outlandish get-up!
I have HORRIBLE penmanship.
However, with some practice, I can make something lovely with those caligraphy fountain pins– I suggest considering getting some scrapbooking “sticker” platings with the pretty gold trim– or whatever will work with the book– and get about sixty of them.
Try until you get one that looks nice.
Foxfier’s idea is brilliant! As I don’t scrapbook, I tend to forget all about all the cool stuff they have for the hobby.
Come to think of it, Michael’s has a very nice department and seems to have a lot of choices/variety.
*laughs* Thank you, Jill…. Actually, came up with it while writing thank yous for my livingroom elopement. Had 9 thank yous to write, got a 20 pack, barely made it. ;^p
