It’s rough to be a kitty…

Canuck was telling me about an incident earlier today with Bobble, the Canadian immigrant kitty. Apparently Bobble has been fascinated by Canuck’s bedroom closet for the last couple of weeks. Pawing at the door. Trying to nudge it open. Et cetera.
Well, Canuck finally relented and opened the door so Bobble could see that there was nothing interesting inside. According to him, Bobble was one ticked off kitty when he FINALLY got into the closet and found…a closet. That’s it. No supersecret passage to the outdoors, no catnip garden, no secret stash of kibble.
There were quite a lot of angry meows, I am told…
My poor Bobble! He loved to dash into my bedroom closet as I was getting clothes out every morning, and it had a lot of cozy hidey-holes for kitties. Maybe he thought The Canuck’s would be the same.
Don’t worry Dan, other than that irritation, he’s adjusting quite well to life in Canada. He’s got lots of windows to look out of (that may even be open when the weather permits it), he gets occassional treats & catnip, and he even has a new, tiny (5.5 pound) mini-dachsund to swat around from time to time
Lauren will be happy to hear that he’s enjoying his new home in Canada. I have to admit, I’m a bit surprised that he’s doing well with his new canine companion. I thought he’d be happier as an only pet, but then again, your home has fewer people and less chaos than ours, so maybe the little dachsund supplies some of what he’s missing with Jacob, Lauren, Alyssa and Alex
I wouldn’t say it’s all sweetness and light between the two of them, but there’s been far less animosity than I expected. Max (the dog) is still very much a puppy (about 4 months old) and arrived just a few weeks after Bobble did. Despite a few skirmishes (initiated equally by both) they seem to be getting along well. As I put it to Katie about a week ago, they seemed to have reached a sort of detente
