Showered

Kasia November 15th, 2008

We had my bridal shower today. Well, my Detroit bridal shower – there’s going to be one in Chatham for the Canadian family and some of Mere de Canuque’s friends

I have to say, I never thought I would be one of those brides who would squeal over Sil-Pat baking mats and steel colanders, but apparently I misjudged myself. There was much squealing, and almost all of it originated with yours truly.

It was a lovely shower. I appreciated the effort and planning (and of course the gifts too!), and now need to pick out some purty thank-you notes to begin expressing my appreciation.

On an only-tangentially-related note, I’m still sorely tempted to buy this for the wedding. But I’m not sure I can bring myself to spend more than I spent on the dress for a cape that I’m unlikely to wear again…any thoughts? It is perfect for a winter wedding…but…

** UPDATE ** Or I could buy this (more pics here)…much less expensive, but DEFINITELY a single-occasion garment…

Awwww…and you were such a cute showeree too! ;-)
All brides do their share of squealing, it helps them to express their joy.
Hopefully you feel showered with love! As there certainly seemed to be an awful lot of people who love you all in the same place yesterday. And I’m sure that the beloved ‘Fee-awwn-say’ was sending you his love from Canuckistan since he couldn’t be there in person and he is just sweet that way.
It was lovely to meet Mere de Canuque and Grandmere de Canuque too. You are so very blessed to be adding them to your family and they count you as one of their blessings as well.

As for the beautious winter capes – wow. I think I like the less expensive one a bit more. It looks a little fancier with the beading (?) and it would completely cover your dress. But the fur on the other one is very pretty too…
I do think your inner romantic is showing!
    ;-)

Cf. a a few posts ago, abt. how Slavs tend to have the piggish look . . .

I don’t remember a discussion about Slavs having the piggish look…I do recall one about stocky Slavic peasants…

    Jill,

I’m torn between them, honestly – they’re both beautiful. Though I’ll admit that I’m a teensy bit uncomfortable with even faux fur, so I suppose I really ought to go with the other one…sigh, darned animal-loving tendencies!! ;-)

Maybe you could just think of the (faux) fur trim as the hair some kind-hearted person brushed out of the animal so that its coat would be healthier!
I know whenever Colby is forced to endure a good grooming we brush out enough hair to almost make a puppy – and definitely enough to trim a winter cape! ;-)

definitely get a cape, so you don’t freeze and can get a few outdoor pics without looking blue.

If you can manage with a faux fir cape…I might be able to get my hands on one for you for free…It’s a shorter one I believe. My girlfriend just got married last December, and I can check to see if she’s willing to part with it for a bit!! Let me know

P.S. They’re both pretty, but I definately like the first one better..

Are you kidding?!? Stacy, that would be PERFECT – not only would it handle the cape thing (and the budget concerns – we were looking into me renting a cape at this point), but it would cover the “something borrowed” that I haven’t fit in yet!

Please do ask her…I would really, really appreciate it (though of course I won’t fault her if she doesn’t want to part with it)! :-)

Ok…will do. Sorry, I haven’t been back to this post for a bit!!! I’ll send her a message right now so I don’t forget!!! She may only loan it to you, but it would serve the purpose! I’ll see if I can get her to send me a picture also…
