I’m revamping my blogroll, primarily to make my daily read easier but also to cull some of the inactives and whatnot. If you see yours disappear (and not reappear in another category), and you have actually written something on it in the last six months, or if you have a suggestion for a blog you think I should add…drop a comment in the combox or shoot me an e-mail! Now’s the time…strike while the iron is hot, and all that!
As a rule, I will link to blogs that link to me, unless I think they’re just phishing for linky love, or unless I have a personal reason not to (remember, my blog = my Internet home = my discretion).
I am hoping that my next project will be to go back and tag posts that are currently “uncategorized”…but we’ll see…

(from Mark Shea via Orthometer)
If you use Twitter, set your location to Tehran & your time zone to GMT +3.30. Iranian security forces are hunting for bloggers using location/timezone searches. The more people at this location, the more of a logjam it creates for forces trying to shut down Iranians’ access to the internet. Cut & paste & pass it on.
I can’t be sure that this is true or that it’ll help, but it was hardly an inconvenience to spend a minute or so changing my Twitter location. If it doesn’t help, it’s no skin off me..

Neda Soltan
Per Digi’s excellent suggestion…
The Iranian government may have forbidden her family from publicly mourning her, but they can’t stop the world from finding out.
Rest in peace, Neda Soltan. I can only imagine what your family, your friends, and your fiance are going through right now. My prayers are with them.

Tomorrow afternoon is the green card interview.
Really, we should have nothing to worry about. It’s an authentic marriage; we’ve got mounds of evidence to support that; everyone we’ve dealt with at USCIS and the related agencies has been great; and as a safeguard against abuse or caprice, apparently the interviews are videotaped.
I have no idea what to wear. Canuck is going to wear what he wore to the photo session, though probably sans tie. I’m pretending that something fantastic is going to miraculously appear in my closet tomorrow morning. (Hey, it could happen…)
In any event, since we are both Olympic-grade worriers, any prayers you can spare would be profoundly appreciated.
Merci mille fois! Oh…wait…they might doubt my American creds if I keep up with the French…
I’ll post on how it went either tomorrow or Thursday, depending on how the schedule works.
** UPDATE ** All’s well – he got approved! Passport is stamped, actual green card will probably take 2 – 3 months because the facility is being retooled, but…he’s now a legal permanent resident!
Deo gratias and thank you for your prayers!!!

…I recently had the opportunity to completely savage someone, and I chose not to.
The circumstances made it sorely tempting – I had such devastating ammunition, after all – but with a moderate amount of self-restraint and, more importantly, a short trip to the Adoration chapel…I responded mildly, coolly, logically, and with a shot that I think was aimed dead at the heart of the issue, rather than a personal attack.
I just may have a slight tic for a few days, and a bloody tongue, while I work the ammunition out of my system.
That is all. Carry on.
